Visitors  (August of 2013)  (by Mary)

Our daughter, Amy, stopped on the way back from Colorado. She brought along our favorite son-in-law, Dave, and our new grand dog, Strider. Most importantly, our four grandchildren - Josh, Katie, Caleb, and Molly.

Ignoring my protests, this family knows how to work and did. They even snuck in a job behind my back so they wouldn't have to listen to me, again. I so enjoyed having Amy and the girls help me in the house. It wasn't all work, though, as one of the first jobs the men did was to clear branches and shrubs from around a rope swing over the Sappa Creek. We failed to get pictures of the fun that followed.

Note that some work can be fun such as Caleb learning to drive the tractor and giving Katie a ride in the bucket!

Katie on the yard swing!

Molly & Amy enjoying the breeze.

 Picking Pole Beans.

Dave is a pilot for the USAF but thinks he missed his calling as a lumberjack. He loves to cut down trees!

Whoa! They are letting Josh use the chainsaw! If you remember, Josh spent two summers with us. We treasure that time with him. Now he is grown up and starting his second year of college.

Taking down the hog shed. The foundation may become a greenhouse someday.

We saved the wood for future use, and Amy took some for picture frames.

Goofing off! The master bedroom held two queen sized air mattresses and the dog kennel.

It was so quiet when they left.

I remember my mother saying similar words when we left the farm with our four children.

Time flies.
